On Wednesday last, at our weekly Westneld fat stock market, our t>eei pens contained 341 head, comprising 2-pO steers, 74 cows, and heifers, and V bulls. There was a strong demand throughout, last week's ' values being easily sustained, arid in some cases exceeded. Extra choice ox sold to £3 2/-, choice and prime £2 17/ to £3, ordinary and plain £2 8/ to £2 12/, rough £1 15/ to £2 cow and heifer be?f, £2 2/ to £2 15/ per 100 lb. Steers ranged in price from £26 to £28 17/6 for heavy prime; lighter prime steers £l 9to £2» 10/, light prime £15 10/ to £is 10/, unfinished £10 to £15; heavy prime cows £15 to £17 15/, lighter prime £11 to £14 10/, other cows' £5 to £10 10/.
There was scarcely an average .yarding of sheep, but generally the quality was good. The demand was less keen, and except in odd cases of extra prime values were a trifle easier..Extra heavy prime wethers £2 9/ to £2 12/, heavy prime £2 5/ to £2 8/, medium to heavy prime £2 to £2 5/, lighter prime £1 17/ to £1 19/, unfinished £1 14/ to £1 16/<----extra heavy prime ewes, £2 1/ to £2 7/3; heavy prime ewes £1 18/ to £2, lighter prime £1 15/ to £1 17/(5, other ewes £1 12/ to £1 14/; heavy prime hoggets £2 1/ to £2 4/9, for a pen from Gava&i Park, Papatoetoe; lighter primo £1 16/ to £2, other hoggets £1 0/ to £1 15/. (1261 sold).
Pigs were yarded in average numbers. Competition was keen, and prices were easily equal to last report. Store pigs were in strong demand, and met with a sharp rise. Choppers, £7 to £9 5/; no heavy baconors yarded; mediuirn baooners. £7 15/ to £8 15/, light £7 to £7 12/ heavy porkers £5 16/ to £6 12/, medium £4 18/ to £5 12/6, light £3 to £4 4/; good store* £3 3/ to £3 15/, slip's £2 5/ to £3; good weaners, £1 1/ to £2 3/, weedy 7/ to 15/. (269 sold).
Calves were again penned in large numbers. Competition,was less keen, and values were easier. Rummei's made from £8 to £14 5/ for a two-year-old heifer heavy vealcrs £5 7/6 to £7 2/, medium £4 to £5 2/, light £2 18/ to £3 12/, small £1 2/ to £2 12/, fresh dropped 5/ ,to 18/. (271 sold.)
