PROHIBITIVE LEGISLATION.
AROUSES RESENTMENT. (Received 9.35 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 22. Japan has lodged an informal protest with the State Department against the proposed Californiian legislation absolutely prohibiting the ownership or lease of lands by Japanese. Diplomatic and official circles fear complications should the law pass.— A. and N.Z.
