PREJUDICES FROM PRUDERY.

At the International Brotherhood Congress, held in London recently, Sir Thomas Barlow, Bart, spoke of social impurity. He thought that informal lectures in schools, and conferences of parents, would be useful in getting parental co-operation and removing the prejudices which came frvra prudery. With regard to schools, he did not agree with the idea of stopping at nature study in the elementary schools and deferring the teaching of physiology until the children reached the continuation schools. FeniMle teachers should give warning to the girls individually when they were about to leave school. But when we denounced' prudery, we ought t'j remember that there was a wise and respectful reticence which should be safeguarded. There were pamphlets and books which could be procured which would be helpful to parents and teachers. To talk lo boys individually was the best way to deal with them. Wo must utilise our knowledge as an aiitidnie to unprofitable curiosity. He thought it would be useful if Trade Unions and Co-operative Societies arranged lectures
