The official statement that the Government terms have been -.ccepted by ihe raihvaymen shows thai the Government has not departed from the principle of basing standard rites on the average instead of the highest pre-war rate, as demanded by the <'ailwaymen.
The Government will advert to its sliding scale, based on tho cost of living, but agrees lo a indense in the war wages o; grades not included in the Government's proposals.
The Government further agrees to extend the principle of settlement to th/> Irish railways.-—A. and N.Z. and R.
