Mr Carey replied, "You are. wrong." All he knew was that Dr. Gilruth knew he desired reappointment. Replying Ir. Mr Justice Swing's inquiry as to who wanted to buy the Territory, Mr Carey said, "I do not know. I know in l'.Hli that the Administrator asked Lord Forrest if the Commonwealth wanted to sell the territory. Lord Forrest asked what price was offered. Dr. Gilruth replied, 'Be iween £100,000 and £ii00,00((.' Asked who was the buyer, Dr. Gilruth replied ihat it was not his business, but if was n chartered company, which would comply wiih the White Australia policy."
