HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP,
BECKETT NOT SATISFIED,
LONDON, Dec. 26,
Joe Beckett, heavyweight champion of 7England, who was recently defeated by Georges Carpentier, has emerged from his temporary rustication refreshed, and credited with the keenest determination to, regain his pugilistic status.
He now acts as his own manager, and proposes a series of matches beginning with Dick Smith, later with Mells and Goddard, but an early second contest with Carpentier remains his most eager desire. He insists that his recent defeat was only a mishap.
The "Weekly Dispatch's" boxing expert believes that" Godadrd's rapid improvement will soon justify a challenge to Carpentier for the championship of Europe.
