WALLACE AND CO.

CHEAP GOODS FOR CHRISTMAS

Messrs Wallace and Company's leading grocery store in Cameron street is at the present time carrying unusually large stocks in all lines, and the results from this state of affairs are much to the advantage of shoppers, as these lines have been purchased by the firm in large lots (with the resultant very considerable discounts and cheaper quotations for large orders). The market prices of all groceries have, as the "Advocate" has constantly pointed out, been steadily rising for some time past, and Messrs Wallace and Campany's foresight in purchasing then has had the effect of enabling them to dispose of goods at under their present cost price. This applies in particular to such lines as tea, (in which commodity there have been very marked rises lately), matches, tinned fruits, soap, dried fruits, etc., in all of which lines Messrs Wallace have large supplies for disposal at rates which cannot fail to convince the public of the claims made concerning them.

The premises being under new management has had much to do with the prices having been kept down, and the fact that the turnover has nearly doubled in the last twelve months also reflects credit upon the management, Mr Simons, the manager, is quite candid in explaining how the foresight of the firm has enabled them to sell goods cheaply, despite the increases of the general market, and it is submitted that goods in Whangarei might have been much dearer all round had it not been for Wallace and Co., who went under the motto at the Peace Celebrations of: "Up with the Flags; Down with the Prices."

'Great improvements have been made in the appearance of the shop itself, where everything is neat and clean, with a great stock displayed in such a manner as to give a bright and businesslike appearance to the premises, It is also noticeable that the staff acts up to the firm's motto—Civility and Attention.

Messrs Wallace and Company are confident in the line of business they are doing, and guarantee that they save every customer dealing with them from 1/6 to 2/6 in every £ worth of goods purchased from the firm.
