WASHINGTON Oct. 20

Senator Lodge, in the course of a statement to-day, said that a decisive majority in the Senate would vote that reservations be attached to the ratification resolution. The treaty reservations must be unequivocal and effective,, pro'tecting> the peace, safety sovereignty, and independence of the United States, Americanising the treaty and at the same time serving the causeof general peace.—A. and N.Z. PARIS, Oct. 20. The indefinite postponement of the formal exchange of the ratifications of peace, which alone is needed for the operation of the Versailles Treaty, i s due to Mr Wilson's illness. Many measures must be taken with-f in a specified time aftef the treaty begins to operate. Mr Wilson depersonally to deal with these. —A. and N.Z.
