PATROLLING DERRY'S WALLS
HISTORIC SIEGE RECALLED,

LONDON, Aug. 15. The authorities are anticipating grave disorders in Londonderry. The military proscribed the Nnrionalist and Sir.n Fein Lady Day demonstration, which was to include a procession round the walls of the town. Tropp f s for- th«- 4]rst time since the Siege of Derry occupied these walls, Orangemen and other Unionists hnd expressed their determination to prevent anyone using the walls for an anti-Brjtish parade.—A. and N.Z.
The memorable Siege of Derry (of Londonderry, capital of the county) was conducted by |he forces of James II in 1688-89. The walls, about one mile in circuit, were conetvucted early in the 17th century.
