They could not afford to turn the Bill down.

Mr Fagan (unofficial Onerahi representative) said he had no objection to the board borrowing, but only to the way they proposed to spend the money. They had Onerahi at present, and with the-expenditure of £40,000 they, could make it a port equal to any in New Zealand. He hoped they would pass the Bill, but not carry out the scheme.
