WHO SHOULD VOTE.
Mr Wakelin (Whangarei Dairy Co.) pointed out that he was instructed by his directors to support the Bill, but he was not quite clear as to the limits of the Harbour District. Should the people outside the district exercise a vote. .
Mr Holme j (Whangarei Borough Council) suggested that aa Waipu was not in the district, representatives from there should riot have a vote,
Mr F. Murdoch (Ruakaka Branch M.Z. F. Union) said his district was. not in Waipu River District, and he had been sent.by .his branch to .su£t" port the Bill, and that was what h« thought they had come to discuss. He did not look for the other part of the scheme, With the harbour they had got it was necessary to have a board with funds. It was no good having a board unless it could do something., Nevertheless he would hav e liked to discuss the tariff, and he asked Mr Elliott how much per ton it cost to produce cement. (Laughter, and cries of order). The farmers the spealfw: declared, were in favour of tke Bill and progress. It was the only way they could get progress in the harbour and in town.
