The Japanese Embassy states that the Japanese Government contemplates soon announcing its intentions respeot/ijng Shantung. Japan asks only for control of Kiau Chau, and does not wish to obtain Shantung Province, but wants joint control of the Tsingtau-Tsingan railway with China.—A. and N.Z.
