DR. PAGE RETIRES.
FROM AMBASSADORIAL POST,
(Received 9.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 28. The newspapers regret Dr. Page's retirement.
The "Times" says: "He has worthily represented America and filled a position of great responsibility with remarkable success. America and Britain are bound together now as they never were before."
The "Heralds" considers that Dr. Page has fulfilled a delicate and onerous task with sound judgment, and his successor must.be capable of filling the important diplomatic post. —A. and N. Z.
Dr. Walter Hines Page, who is 62 years old, has been United States Ambassador to Great Britain since 1913. He edited "The Forum" for 15 years and later "The Atlantic Monthly" and "The World's Work." He is a man of wide knowledge and great ability, and has borne the extraordinary burden caused by the war with unvarying strentgh.
