LONDON, July 1. Sir Douglas Haig reports as follows

"There is considerable enemy artillerying dn the Scarpe Valley and the neighbourhood of Lens.

"During June captured 8688 Germans, including 175 officers; also 67 guns, including two heavies, 102 trench mortars, 335 machine-guns, and a great quantity- of other material."
