MR MASSEY IN IRELAND.

ENEMY TRADE ELIMINATION,

NEW ZEALAND'S LEAD

Australian and N Z. Cable Association

(Press Assn. —Reed. 10.50 p.m.)

LONDON, November 28

Mr Massey, at Londonderry, received the freedom of the city. Speaking at a subsequent luncheon in the Guildhall he uttered a strong warning against allowing the peace party, now in an insignificant majority, to become any stronger. New Zealand, he said, was going to be the centre of an important island confederation in the Pacific, and was now taking vigorous steps to eliminate enemy trade. He was sorry to think that some of the leading British statesman were not more enthusiastic in promoting a closer Empire union at the commencement, thougji it could be made now. Above all it must never be a party question. If it were so he feared that the outlook was not very good.
