FEMALE BURGLARS AT WORK,

CHRISTCHURCH, May 6

"An extraordinary state of affrMrs," said Mr- Bishop, S.M., when two girls of 17 and 19 years respectively were charged with burglary of a house at St. Alban's. The girls gav e false names, the real ones being Winifred , White and Gertrude Anderson.

Chief Detective Herbert, applying for a remand, said the girls came from Dunedin, took a house at Sydenham, and partly furnished it. They did no work, but took part in various burglaries in the suburbs. They had broken into houses with axes and slrovels, taking what they could. The younger girl was under control of the elder. They were wanted to answer similar charges at Mosgiel. Accused were remanded till Monday week.'
