"WINDING UP" THE ENEMY.

RECEIVERS IN THE PACIFIC

WELLINGTON, May 6

Several receivers are being sent to Samoa and other Pacfic Islands by the New Zealand • Government to wind up the business affairs of enemy subjects. "Every German trader in Samoa, Tonga, and adjacent islands is being shut up," remarked the Prime Minister to your correspondent. "This is being done all over the South Pacific, and New Zealand's responsibility for this work covers Samoa, Tonga, and a number of islands. The businesses are not being carried on until the war is over —they are being wound up."

This interesting information is a sequel to a former statement on the subject by the Prime Minister, who took the opportunity of pointing out what an important opening is being provided in the Pacific Islands for the business men of the Dominion.
