POLAR EXPLORATION.
FATE OF THE ENDURANCE
DIFFICULTY IN SENDING RELIEF. Press Assn —Reed. 4.5 p.m.) LONDON, May 6
The "Daily Chronicle" says since there is no news of the Endurance steps must be taken without delay to organise relief expeditions to both Ross and Weddel Seas. It is difficult to find a suitable ship, as there are probably not half-a-dozen in the world, and all would need considerable refitting. If th e enterprise is commenced at once it will take three months to complete arrangements. The lives of 40 men are in peril and the national credit will suffer if, while erecting memorials to the heroic dead we lag in our duty towards the heroic living.
