NEW YORK, July 17
Passengers arriving ex Orduna report that a German submarine attempted to sink the Orduna, but the captain steamed up and escaped both torpedoes and shells. The passengers made a presentation to Captain Taylor for his bravery on the occasion. Many Americans were aboard.
