(To the Editor..) Sir. — 1 noticed recently letters to the "Advocate" on "matters musical."' One correspondent mentioned the name of .Miss Rosina Buckinann, and the following, culled from a London paper just to hand, may be of interest. .Miss Uucknianu, who is playing at the Shattesbury Theatre in "Tales of Hoffmann," receives (lie following notice:—"Of the cast which was concerned in the performance of the iirsi niglit the critics have written at length, so I will only refer to those who were not subjected ro the verdict of the journalistic judges. "Of these the outstanding success has been made by Rosina Huekmanu as Antonia i,i the Third Tale. Her singing of tli-j part, which encompasses every emotion from clinging tenderness to outbursts of passionate entreaty, with the final note of tragedy, is a real triumph for the artist. Beauty of tone, a mastery of technical difficulties and rare qualities of temperament make Rosina Buckinann's Antonia memorable. Because she is a New Zealander, 1 will employ the words of the early settler in that lovely South land —'Kia Ora Kaitoa!'"—l am, etc., C. R. TV
