JEWELLERY THEFT CHARGES.
SUBSTANTIAL BAIL.
AUCKLAND, May 7
At the Police Court to-day Edward George Nurse, aged :U, was ilmrgfd with stealing a diamond ring and other riii-s valued at iive huudred pounds, the property of the National Bank of New Zealand. On an application ior remand and for bail the Crown Prosecutor said that a great deal more was at stake than the charge might Indicate. The matter involved several thousand pounds. It' defendant were prepared to help the Crown investigation the prosecutor would not object to bail, otherwise he asked that, the bail be prohibitive.
The magistrate, after looking over the figures submitted, said that. what, the Crown Prosecutor had stated was correct. P>ail was fixed in two sureties of .€SOO each, accused to report himself twice every day.
