BRITISH TRANSPORT ASSAILED.

BY TURKISH TORPEDOER. HUNDRED CASUALTIES REPORTED. ' ATTACKERS DRIVEN ASHORE. WELLINGTON, April 19. The Premier has received the following from the High Commissioner, under date London, April 17:— J The Admiralty erports that the British transport , Minator, carrying troops, was attacked by a Turkish torpedo boat in the Aegean Sea this morning. ' The Turk fired three' torpedoes, but all missed. The vessel wae chased by the British cruiser Minerva and destroyers. She was run ashore and destroyed on the coast of Chios Island and the crew made prisoners. It is reported that a hundred men on the transport were drowned, but full particulars are not received.
