PARIS, Sept. 1C

The investment of Maubeuge by the enemy was commenced on August 2Gth. The main attack was on the east and north of the town. The siege artillery completely destroyed the Coussoir, Essarts and Cerfontaine forts, and the Rocq earthworks. Some forts surrendered in 24 hours, ethers in two days. The bombardment of the town lasted twelve days. Over a thousand shells fell on the railway station in one night. The loss of life was slight.
