Replying •to a deputation from Wairarapa urging the acquisition by the Government of two large estates at Tinue, totalling 27,000 Mr Massey said for the-jpast seven years the Government had not taken any estates compulsorily, the reason being that so many difficulties were placed in the way that the law was found to be almost unworkable. Whether Parliament -would amend the law he was not able to say. lie would not go into details, but he was' putting the Act of last year into motion in regard to certain properties in different parts of New Zealand.
