TAKAPAU MILITARY CAMP.

A- FIELD DAY.

INSPECTOR-GENERAL .CONGRA-

TULATORY

TAKAPAU, May 7

The big field day at the military eucarnpment was held hi fine, hot weather. The manoeuvres were very successful from a practical standpoint and gave the civilian onlookers a splendid idea of the conditions of actual warfare.

After a mimic battle and the,.march past, which took 43 minutes, General Sir lan Hamilton said the whole attack worked out well and was very creditable. • There had been an appearance of cohesion and weight. The attack ing army came up well together, the blow came in at the proper time, and the result was a realistic and very satisfactory display, interesting and successful.

The General presented several longservice medals and afterwards left for Hamilton. *
