SUFFRAGETTISM.
AT THE LAST GASP,
LONDON, Aug. 24
The Government believes that the sufffragettes' campaign of violence is at its last gasp, owing toJ the successful operation of the Cat and Mouse Act.
The Women's Social and Political Union is in a bad way financially, and there are that the militants are making their last stand. They have already ceased agitating for the vote, and are now merely trying to secure the repeal of the legislation that has done so much to bring about their disorganisation. As Parliament is in recess, they have no chance of accomplishing this object for a while.
It is estimated that the militant leaders now number no more than ten.
