FATHER SHOOTS SON
THE GOLDSTEIN TRAGEDY.
VERDICT OF MURDER AGAINST FATHER.

SYDNEY, Aug. 26
At "the inquest on the Goldsteins a verdict was returned that the father murdered the son and then committed suicide.
The evidence showed that the father was opposed to his son marrying a certain girl and threatened to blow out. his brains if he did.
On the 9th inst. a mysterious tragedy was reported to have occurred in Sydney city. A Mrs. Goldstein heard revolver shots in a lower room of her house. On investigating she found her husband shot dead, and a grown-up son seriously wounded by a revolver, three chambers of which had been discharged. The weapon was lying between the bOdies. The son was sent to the hospital, where he never regained consciousness, and a few days ago died. It was stated at the time of the tragedy that the father and son had had a disagreement recently, and the supposition was that they had renewed their quarrel.
