JACK JOHNSON'S ENGAGEMENT.
POSTPONED BY MANAGERS
THE " WHITE SLAVE " CHARGE
LONDON, Aug. 25.,
The engagement of the negro pugilist Jack Johnson has been postponed on the ground that it is at present inadvisable for him to appear upon the stage, also to enable him to reply to allegations of which the American " white slave " charge is uppermost.
Johnson has invited the Rev. P. B. Meyer, who strongly criticised his appearance on the stage, to grant him an interview, to. enable Mr. Meyer to judge at first hand of his character, intellect and morals.
