RECENT AUCKLAND TRAGEDY.

CONDEMNED WOMAN HANGS HERSELF. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 25. The sequel to the recent tragedy occurred on Saturday when Mrs. Mary Hall, who stood her trial on Wednesday on a charge, of having murdered her daughter Elizabeth, hanged herself at the Auckland Mental Hospital. Dr. Beattie had ordered her to be kept under constant observation, but owing to the overcrowded state of the institution this was impracticable.. The nurse left for ten. minutes, and on returning found Mrs. Hall hanging by a sheet to the win-dow-sash catch. At the inquest the jury found that death was due to hanging, made made possible by an error of judgment in allowing her to have sheets.
