The Northern Company's new mine at Hikurangi has now reached an output of 60 tons per day, and it is anticipated that the mine will yield 150 tons daily by the end of the present week.

Mr E. Page, S.M., returned from Paparoa and Maungaturoto on Saturday night. He left for Auckland by the Kanieri to-day en route for Welsford and Warkworth. He returns towards the end of the week.

The body of the young man Ivo Clark, who was drowned-in the Tauroroa River on Wednesday, was recovered on Friday, and conveyed to Tangiteroria, where an inquest was held. The funeral took place at Tangiteroria yesterday.

The continued, downpour of - the last few days has played havoc with the unfinished roadwork on the new section of the Beach road at Onerahi. The unmetalled road-surface in the new cutting is converted temporarily into a fine sample of bog. A considerable spell of dry. weather wilL..he needed before work can be thoroughly resumed.

The final of the Junior Football Cup Competition was played at Kensington between High School and Rovers on Saturday afternoon and resulted in a draw game, each side scoring a try. The game throughout was very even -with, a slight advantage in favour of Rovers, who spoiled two or three opportunities to score through being over-eager. Mr R. Rule carried the whistle. Malcolm scored for High School and McGregor for Rovers.

Territorials and senior cadets of the district, who have had a two months' "spell" from parades owing to the prevailing epidemic, will re-commence drill next month, the District Health Officer having notified the military authorities that owing to the abatement of the disease IS will be safe for at least the Europeans to parade. In the meantime Maoris and will not be asked to assemble at the various drill centres. The senior cadets will parade at Whangarei on September 1, 15 and 29th; Onerahi September 4 and 18; Parua Bay September 5 and 26th. Members of the 15th Regiment will parade at Whangarei on September 5 and 19, and a daylight parade will be held at 2.30 p.m. on the 27th.' At Onerahi the dates will be September 4 and 18; Maungatapere 9 and 23, Kamo 8, 15 and 22; Hiikurangi 2 and 23; Marua 2, 23, 30; Hukerenui 4 and 11; Towai 16, 24 and 31; Kawakawa 11 and 25; Russell 3, 10, 24. In most of these places the senior, cadets will parade with the territorials, but each man will be individually notified. There will be a daylight parade of B Company on the 17th at Towai. The "A" Squadron 11th Mounted Regiment will parade as follows: —Parua Bay r» and 26th; Whangarei 8 and 22nd; Maungatapere 9 and 23; Ruatangata 19th; Mangapai 1 and 15th; Watkiekie 2 and 16th; Maungakaramea 3 and 17th; Hikurangi 10th; Whakapara 12th'; Jordan 24th.
