Buckland and Son's Report.

At Westfield on Wednesday, August 20, the supply of beef was below the average; 261 head were sold. Competition was steady, and prices 10/ per head in advance of late sales. Choice ox sold to £1 13/, pi J ime, £1 9/ to £1 11/, cows and heifers £1 5/ to £1 9/ per 1001b. Steers £8 15/ to £15 7/6, cows and heifers £5 10/ to £10. Eight choice steers from Mrs. E. M. Reid, Otara, Waiuku, averaged £13 18/6.

Calves. —There was a heavy supply of fat young calves. Values were firm at ruling rates. Runners £5 to £5 14/, heavy suckers £3 12/ to £4 10/, medium suckers £2 8/ to £3 5/, light £1 5/ to £2 5/, small and fresh dropped 3/ to £ 1 2/, 122 sold.

Sheep.—The pens were well filled with a nice quality for the major portion. For heavy prime wethers and ewes the demand was steady, and values firmed to the extent of 1/6 per head. Extra heavy prime wethers realised £1 13/ to £1 5/, heavy prime £1 9/ to £1 12/, medium to heavy £1 5/ to £1 8/6, light and unfinished 19/ to £1 4/, extra heavy prime ewes £ 1 9/ to £1 11/9, good £1 3/6 to £1 7/6, others \/ to £1 3/. Hoggets, extra, to £1 8/, good to £1 5/, others 16/ to 19/; 2149 sold.

Pork—Baconers and porkers showed a decline in prices. Choppers sold to £4 3/, heavy baconers £3 7/ to £4, lighter £2 2/ to £3 4/, large porkers £2 2/ to £2 10/, smaller £1 14/ to £2, light £15/ to £1 12/, slips and small stores 15/ to £1 2/; 146 sold.
