WORK IN ARTICTICA.
DR MAWSON'S EXPEDITION.
SIDNEY, March 17
Professor David" States that, from a scientific view point the YestlHs of Dr Mawson's brilliant work exceed" tlft> most sanguine expectations. He adds "In the opinion of Commander Evans as well as Priestly and myself, Davis, master of the Aurora, did absolutely the right thing in deciding to hasten the rescue of Wild. Nobody can attach to him the least blame for the second decision to proceed straight from Wild's base to Australia. No doubt Dr Mawson will be among the first to commend Davis's action." Gommenting on the results of the expedition, Professor David says:— Probably no Polar expedition has finer sledging record for the time than Mawson's main party. The sledging figures are— main base party 2810 miles, Wild's 1615, total 4425.
