When the first cricket, test match between M.C.C. and Australia was resumed on Saturday, the weather was fine, but very hot, and a strong, gusty wind blew cloudte of dust across the ground.

Minnett and Trumper resumed to Barnes and Poster.

Minnett played: brilliantly, but Trumper was extremely cautious, owing to the close proximity of his century, which he brought up by beautifully sound and careful cricket. Minnett's 50 appeared in 49 minutes.
