ELECTION DAY.
REGULATIONS TO BE OBSERVED.
Particular attention is directed to the method of voting on Thtirsda.next.
In Marsden there will be only two lines to consider on each of the three ballot papers, and all the voter has to do is to strike out what he'or-she does not want. The electoral ballot paper, for instance will contain the names:— MANDER, Francis PURDIE, Edmund Campbell If the voter does not want to vote for "Purdie, Edmund Campbell," a line must be drawn through that name. On the Local Option ballot paper the lines will be:— I Vote For Continuance I Vote For No-license. If the voter does not agros "with " No-license," and wants licenses to continue as at present, the bottom line must be struck out. On the Dominion Option ballot paper the lines will be:— I Vote Against National Prohibition I Vote For National Prohibition. If the voter does not want tbe whole country to be without liquor the bottom line must be struck out. THE HOLIDAY. As Thursday afternoon is the statutory half-holiday in Whangarei for shops and offices the holding of the poll on Thursday next will not make any difference as far as the Shops and Offices Act is concerned.
It will not be necessary for any factory to close on Thursday afternoon, but all occupiers must afford to each employee a reasonable opportunity of recording his or her vote, while no deduction must, be made from the wages in respect of the time so occupied, provided that it does not exceed one working hour.
All hotel bars must be closed from noon until 7 p.m.
The doors of each polling booth will be closed at (> p.m., but anyone who is in the booth at the time and has not had a chance of voting, will be allowed to do so.
