HOSPITAL SUNDAY.
HELP THE HELPLESS
With fair weather promising for the Hospital Sunday demonstration tomorrow, there is nothing else needed to give the occasion pride of place among all the projects that have been advanced for the benefit of the insti. tution. The responsibility is laid upon everyone to assist to the best of their ability, since no one knows when he or she may have to be placed under the. treatment which the hospital affords. While that is a practical and personal element which must demand tribute of the people, there is a loftier appeal to that instinct of human kindness which first of all studies the needs of others. There is hardly need tc appeal to the generosity and good nature of local residents where charitable action is in question, because it has been weighed in the balances and not found* wanting time without number. The present week has seen a hearty response in the way of purchasing badges, and there is yet time for those who have not yet procured one to show their approval of the affair without straining their finances. Every shilling means two shillings and twopence, and a fraction over, in supplement of the hospital funds. Many a shilling is spent on personal gratification quite regardlessly, and. serving no particular purpose. A single shilling expended in a Vadge or any other sum contributed carries with it the certainty of being helpful where help is most needed.
The organisation of to-morrow's pageant is complete and perfect, and the public will have the opportunity of v/itnessing a grand array. Collectors will be stationed at the gateways to receive contributions, from the widow's mite upwards. The public are by no means compels I to give; that is left to their charitable inclination.
