GELIGNITE THROWN ON A FIRE.

(Received April 13, 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, April 13

Without troubling to ascertain the contents of a paper parcel, a cook named Mary McPhie threw the whole Jot on the fire in the kitchen of the hotel at Irvine Bank.

The parcel contained gelignite, and a terrible explosion followed, so badly injuring the' cook that she died from the effects.
