SACRED MUSICAL RECITAL.

AND "THE CRUCIFIXION."

Before a large congregation in the Presbyterian Church last night the church choir, assisted by local talent and Mr W. Aspinall, of Auckland, presented a high-class recital of sacred music, and Stainer's "Crucifixion." Before commencing, Mr W. A. Carruth apologised for the absence of Rev. J. L. Pattullo, who was in Auckland. He asked those present not to make any demonstration at the conclusion of the items. Mr A. Dobson officiated.at the organ, and his playing was very highly appreciated. Mr H. Lange conducted the choir.

| The following items were given: — Organ solo, hymn "Celesti" varied, Mr Dobson; anthem, choiv; solo, "Be Thou Faithful Unto Death," Mr Aspinall; organ selection, overture, Adagio March (bracketed), from Handel's "Occasional Oratoria," Mr Dobson; vocal solo, "All Divine Redeemer," (Gonourd), Miss Galloway; organ solo, "Adoremus," varied (Westbrook), Miss Dobson; vocal solo, "0 Let My Redeemer Live" (Messiah), Mrs H. Crawford, anthem, "King of Kings," choir; vocal solo, "Total Eclipse," Mr Aspinall.

The second half of the programme was taken up by Stainer's superb work, "The Crucifixion."
