THEATRE MANAGER DROWNED.

A CAPSIZED CANOE,

CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 23

Mr Alexander Forbes Orr, manager of Fuller's Opera House, was found drowned in the Avon, near Dallington, yesterday.

He went out in a Canadian canoe, and it is surmised that the canoe upset and that Mr' Orr became entangled in the reeds, which are very thick in that part of the river. The boat was seen' floating upturned, and when the body was recovered life was extinct

The deceased's people reside in Wellington. _
