Weights to be declared at 4.30pm on day of races. EULES AND EEOTLATIONS. I All races will he run and the meeting held subject to the Rules of "The N. A. R. A." and the Rules of Racing as adopted by the Metropolitan Clubs in New Zealand which came into operation on the 10th day of November; 1891, with such exceptions and alterations ; therefrom and therein, as are hereunder notified, that is to say '.—Excepting from the. said Rules of Racing, Rules 1, 11,17, 20, 22,22,131,: 157, 159, 160, and all other Rules creating, or conferring Metropolitan jurisdiction either , original or appelate. % In the said Rules of Racing for the pur* pose of this meeting, if not inconsistent with , the context, the words and phraces following shall have the meanings hereinafter stated:— " Jockey Club " means the N. A. B. A. and every other Joc£ey, Racing, or Turf Club recognised by the same. " Official Calendar " when used with iespect to this . Club means "The Northebn Advocate "rWith respect to any other Zockbj Club the publication (if any) appointed by such Club. . . 3 All protests, complaints, or objections' shall be determined by the Stewards, whose da* cision shall be final and shall not he questioned in any Court, subject to the approval of the, N.A.R.A. ' 4 Every protest, complaint, or objection: . must be accompanied by a deposit of. 1 spy. which sum will be forfeited ir such protest, complaint, or objection be not sustained. 5 No bookmaker or other person shall bet' or lay odds, as a booAmaAer, on the course, or, : • on, or in any stand, paddock, or enclosure or other place in the occupation of the Club unless duly authorised in writing by the (Secretary. Any person offending against this rule will be expelled from ' thoj ground. •' ."..!.!■ 6 The Stewards may alter the order, of events in the programme. ,' ' r . 7 No jockey or other person will be permitted to ride in any race other than the Novel . Race or Hack unless duly licensed so to do by the Secretary. Provided always that tht Stewards may permit any such Jockey or person so to ride if licensed in writing by the Secretary of any recognised Club. The license :i fee is 1 soy. 8 Five per cent, cf gross winnings of each owner will be deducted for the expenses of the course. ■ ■ : ; • 9 Age, pedigree, and performances of horse must be stated in nomination. Colours to be worn by riders must be stated at time of entry, ■end owners failing to do so will be compelled to run in colours entered by the Secretary on their behalf. 10 No nomination or acceptance shall be . received unless accompanied by the necessary amount of cash. In the event of only two horses starting in any race 75 per cent of the prize money only will be paid. ' : Any jockey riding except in colours entered will be fined 3 soys. When two or more horses start belonging ta one owner, a distinguishing colour . must , be worn by their jockies. All rorsons intending to withdraw horses are requested to give notice to that effect to the /Secretary or the Clerk of the scales one. hoi,ir before starting. Any person neglecting or'xe: fusing to comply with this rule shall pay a finenot exceeding 5 soys to the funds, this will be rigorously enforced. > Three horses to be nominated or no race. The word "Hack" shall mean any horse that has never started in any race to the value of twenty soys, or never won public money above the value of 5 soys. 10 per cent, from all stakes to go to the second horse. , Nominations for all Handicaps to close on Saturday, December 21st at twelve p.m. with' the Secretary, Whangarei. Weights for the following races will ap 1 bur on December 29, 1893 :— Railway Plate, Hurdles ; W.T.C. Handicap, Pony Rase (Ist day) Steeplechase. The winners of any handicap after the declaration of weights to carry 7lb penalty, two or more handicaps, 101 b penalty. Weights for the Tradesmens' Plate, Pony Handicap, Publicans' Purse by 8 p m on the first day's races. Acceptances at 10 pm same night. Qeneral entries and acceptances Wednesday, January 3, 1894.
