Kelpie, sire of Maid of Honour, was the sire of Fireworks, sire of Goldsborough out of Sylvia, aud of Sardonyx, out of Onyx. Captivator, imported, sire of Dishonoue, was bred in England in 1867. As a 2-year old and as a 4-year old he proved himself a thorough stayer, winning the Great Metropolitan Stakes 2£ miles over the severe course at Epsom The following are his performances •. — At Harrow Spring Meeting won the 2-year old Stakes, beating 15 others ; at Winchester won Biennial Staves 330 soys., beating seven others; The Grange Park Stakes, 270 soys., beating five others; at Bath and Somerset Meeting won Biennial Stakes Straight, half-a-mile, 660 soys. carrying 8-10, top weight ; as a 4 -year old he won the Great Metropolitan Stakes by three lengths, worth 1005 soys., 1\ miles, carrying 8-6; at Salisbury, won Her Majesty's Plate, 3 miles by six lengths. Will stand at Whangarei Hotel on WEDNESDATo up to noon, and Kamo remainder of day. Mangapai (Harrison's), MONDAYS, if sufficient inducement. Hikurangi— SATURDAYS. Grazing at 1/6 a week, all care taken but no responsibility. Any Mares left at the .Whangarei, Kamo, or Star Hotels will be attended to.
