THE LAST ELECTION

The result of the last election will be interesting reading jiist now. We give the returns below. The electoral district has been a good deal altered since then, the whole of the Port Albert and Mangawai districts having been cut out and added to "Waitemata, while a new slice of country has been added, taking in the whole of the east bank o£ the Wairoa river from the "Wairua down to Jiititai, then across the river to include Te Kopuru and the whole of the peninsula Iniown as the' North Kaipara Heads. Although the > -configuration of the electoral district has been altered, the the increase of population is general and the voting powers of the different parts remain about tlie same.

There are 4244 electors on the roll now, nearly double the number that were on at last election, but over 500 'of these are either absent or dead.
