AUCKLAND MAERETS.

Auckland, Friday. Potatoes are declining. Of Oamarus there are none, Canterbury 72/6, local 65/. Flour has advanced. 10/ per ton is recorded during the week, and a further rise is expected. PRODUCE MARKET. In local produce market the price of eggs remains unchanged, /6 per dozen wholesale, /8 retail. Dairy butter is becoming plentiful, and a fall in price has now taken place ; best dairy butter is quoted at /10 per lb. wholesale, and 1/ retail. KAURI GUM MARKET. Notwithstanding the heavy supplies there is a strong and active demand for good qualities. Ordinary gum at full current rates. So far the excessive production has not been checked in the slightest degree. For the eight expired months of 1888 we have received 59G7 tons, against 6486 tons for the whole of last year. The supplies for the month of August are 715 tons, and for five days of Sept. about 52 tons. We quote : — Fair ordinary 29/ to 30/, best ordinary 31/, East Coast 43/6 to 44/. srn. alfked svcki-anv'b report. During the past week meadow hay ranged from 1/3 to 1/9, oaten sheaves 1/0 to 2/3 per cwt., oats 2/4 to 2/9 per bushel. On Friday horse stock maintained previous week's improved values. Useful horse ranged from £6 to £12 10/. At Jtemuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle sold more freely than last week, but prices were low, varing from £2 to £4 5/ each. Store cattle in moderate number, and were require. Fat cattle in short supply, but scarcely maintained last week's values ; ranged, for steers £7 17/G to £4 15/, or from 15/ to 17/ per lOOlbs. Sheep, of good uniform quality, also in less than usual numbers, prices were firm, wethers ranged 16/ to 12/6, ewes 14/ to 10/ each, or /2f to /3 per lb., lambs varied in weight considerably, and ranged from 5/ to 13/6 each. Calves in short supply, brought extreme prices. Pigs also were in demand, at improved values, kindly porkers bringing near /4 per lb., and good store pigs equally high.
