Auckland, Thursday. The Wesleyan Conference have allotted the Rev. J. Thomas to Whangarei. Oamaru, Wednesday. A boy named T. Herd, aged 14, was killed by falling from the tower of a windmill yesterday. He was birdnesting in company with his brother, and the latter dragged the dead body into a corner, and covered it with bags, then went to school, and was crying all day, but would not tell the reason. Auckland, Thursday. Yesterday morning £100 in notes, gold, and silver was found missing from the iron safe in the Police Court. Major Tesdall arrived the] same day to make the annual audit. Cornpigham, the clerk, is temporarily relieved of duties. The remains of the man run over by train is identified as those of George Lee, who was released from gaol on Tuesday, after serving 24 hours for drunkeness. When sent tq gaol he said he would drown himself. His age was 63.
R. B. Watterton's residence, Wairoa South, waß destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning. This morning a five roomed cottage in Centre- street, was burnt down, owned by Mr White, and tenanted by Hy. Mahers. A party of prospectors have discovered a gold bearing reef at Maungatautori.
