/ (From our own Correspondent./ "'■ The concert in aid of the church fund which took place on Wednesday, was quite a success, being patronised by a large appreciative audience. A first class programme was presented, the Choral Society rendering efficient assistance with, foar part songs, while other well known local amateurs took part in the entertainment. Mrs Payne of the Thames sang"Daddy" "Aunty" and "Jessies" Dream," and greatly pleased the audience by her exuisite rendering and expression. Misses McLeod, F. McKenzie, E. Walton, Gr. Pritchard and J. Rust were the other ladies who assisted, and deservedly merited the applause with which their songs were received. The gentlemen contributors to the programme were Messrs Tucker, G. C. Walker, Hemingway, Bust, Murphy, and W. A. Bessell, their respective effusions .being warmly applauded. The Rev. Mr Hawkes occupied the chair and Miss Whitelaw presided at the piano in her usual graceful manner. The result of the concert financially was also very gratifying to tho committee who organised it, and to all present,, Philos.
