NIGHT WATCH AND FIRE.

(To the Editor.) Sib, — Hearing we are about to loose our night* watchman, as he is no longer able to live on what the business people subscribe for him, I take the liberty of asking you to place the matter before the public, as in the face of the coming summer season, without any water supply, it would be more than madness to be without some one to watch over the settlement at night. If a fire was to break out in some of the blocks of buildings, and get a strong hold before it was discovered, there is no Knowing what damage might be done ; whereas, if taken in time, there would be a chance of something being done to save property. Feeling Bure that you will do your best to throw as much light as you can on the subject, I will trespass no further on your space. — I am, &c LexTebbae.
