MANAWATU L.R.C.
One of the Labour * meetings ever held in the Maiia.wa.tu took place at Shannon on the 17t.ii, when full representation was, present from Foxton, Levin, and Shannon districts for the- purpose of "squaring up" accounts for the last campaign and organising for tive next. We were faced with the usual deficit, but if sat lightly on the shoulders of those who liavf Lo fi n( l 'the cash. Most com plimentary reference was -made to the candidate's effort to win the seat for. straight out Labour, and the meet-, ing wfas pleased he wcnlt dov/n fighting rather than win the seat by grovelling. Others to receive our warm thanks were the Pahnersicu i L.R.C.. Mr. Davidson, Mr. J. H. TayI lor .and last but not least the Orange i ■orongo tunnel workers for Sending | Messrs .Webb ;y,nd Seinple into the; district, n.ud, of course, The Worker,! for its effort to create an intelligent thought. But, despite all our efforts, we got forced into the poslit f on of a chopping block between the Pubs and Prohibs, with iho ally and friend of both (the P.P.A.) disseminating the most v-irolic and ■ filthy lies« at the l?acjc doors and dov/ti in the sewersi about our honest and clean living candidate and his good v,-if e and family. We appointed a permanent organiser for the elscsiorate in the person of Mr. Rowlatt( Foxton) ivho will arrange regular meetings of the L.R.C. and draw up acidities for the intervals. -
