DEPUTATION TO SIR JOSEPH WARD. The Workers' Educational Association has several times applied to the Government for financial support, but on every occasion has been put' off, so tho Council decided to send a deputation of delegates of bodies affiliated to the association (which number about 30), to iutcrview. Sir Joseph Ward on Thursday evening,. September 30, with a view to getting a grant placed on tho supplementary estimates. , AVhen Sir Joseph beard what, a largo deputation was waiting outside tho Houss to see -him, ho ■diploma.i-ica.lly informed tho two scouts who had gone inside to fix up tho arrangements that two members would bo quito sufficient. These two (Professor Hunter and Mr. M. J. J'eardon) placed tho facts before the right hon. gentleman, and ho promised to favourably consider tho matter. The deputation waiting outside, on hearing thu result, decided to "wait and see."
