Lyttelton's Lumpers.

Lyttelton Waterside Workers' Union is endeavouring to secure some authorityity for the enforcement of the regulations regarding the removal of beams and hatches on ships when working cargo. For a few days the companies carried out the regulations, but have since refused to do so. The secretary has written to the Minister of .Marine on the matter, but has received, no reply. The Union lias passed a resolution to the effect that no member of the Union go below to work cargo where a hatch man is not in attendance.
