In the Waikato.
A meeting of the "Waikato Miners' Union held on duly l.j. J. Fulton in the chair. There A\a:> an unusually large attendance. 'F'ne Ven'on Inspectors, J. F. Duncan and G- B. Couch, brought before the meeting their report, which called forth the . folloAA'ing resolution: "'That a copy of the report be forwarded to the Minister of Mine? and his attention he called to the expressions Mr. Binnie. GoA'e-rn merit Inspector, used which we consider nnworrhy of an Inspector or Mine>, and furthermore, that the Waikato Miners' Union consider tiro Inspector is Using Iris .posi-t-:om in the interest- or the Employing Chu's to the detriment of the miners." The resolution aa"iik carried unanimously. A Committee of 7 was appointed to
deal with data re building of a Mineral Hail. Another accident to record this week. J. Gilbert had one of his ankles badly crushed by skips on a jig in Ralph's mine. Twenty years ago there lived a butcher in Devonport, Auckland. At that period he dealt in the animal strata to which the cow and the sheep be!ong. To-day he is a director of a. coal mining company, and judging from tho many broken lives around, the comrades who have unfortunately lost their eyes and the maimed, 1 am constrained to say that he" is still in the trade.
