VISIT OF OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD

All the members of the Board excepting tfro, visited the Roxburgh Hospital Accompanying the party were: Mr Wales (architect), Mr Sutherland (the new Purchasing Officer), Mr Sharp (foreman of works), Dr Thomson (Medical Superintendent) and Miss Tennent (Matron of the Dunedin Hospital). The party was met at the local Hospital by members of the local committee and Mr L. Faigan extended to members of the Board a hearty welcome. He thanked them for what they had done for the Committee during the past year and placed a few more suggestions before the Board and he emphasised the necessity of a drying room. He referred to the approaching retirement of Miss Tennent and mentioned that, their own matron (Miss Riley) would also be retiring next year.

In reply. Mr Dove, chairman of the Otago Board, thanked Mr Faigan for his welcome and expressed his appreciation of the work done by the local committee. He told them that their request would be given careful consideration and he also stated that the Board had let a tender for the renovating of the Hospital at a cost of £125.

Morning tea and fruit was served by the matron and staff and before leaving for Dunedin the party was entertained at the orchards of Mr Bennetts' and Mr T. P. Michelle.

The members of the Hospital Board, accompanied by Dr Thompson (Medical Scperintendent), Mr Wales (Architect), Mr Sutherland (purchasing officer) and Miss Tennent (Matron of the Dunedin Hospital) paid a visit of inspection to the Tuapeka Hospital on Saturday. They were met by the members of the local Hospital Committee . and were welcomed by the Chairman (Mr W. Cameron). After comprehensive inspection of the Hospital, the Maternity Ward and the grounds the party was entertained at morning tea after which they left for TapanuL
